Deciding to sell a house is a very personal and sometimes very difficult decision depending as to why someone is selling their house.  Homeowners must decide whether they have the time to invest in all the time it takes to market, show the home and ensure compliance with all required documents and seller’s disclosures. There are a lot of steps to selling a house and there are many people involved from seller, buyer, real estate agents, transactions coordinators, title company, buyer’s lender, home inspector, and escrow officer. Some homeowners may decide to try and sell it on their own but soon find themselves overwhelmed by the taunting task of keeping up with all the demands and fear of missing something. Also, seller may be emotionally attached to the house and that may cause difficulty to navigate the process and may get in the way of selling the house. The whole experience can become very stressful as a result things may be missed, delayed, or simply not correctly handled. This is where having an experienced real estate agent becomes very important; someone who will listen, understand what is important to the seller, and genuinely care to help them achieve their goals. 

In California the seller is usually the one who pays the commission to their real estate agent to help them sell their house. The commission is paid out during the close of escrow out of the proceeds from the sale of the house. The seller’s agent usually splits a percentage with the buyer’s agent. Real estate commission fees are not set at a specific rate and are negotiable. Each Real Estate Broker can negotiate what to charge homeowners to sell their house.
